Study and Work in Canada

On April 18, 2005, the Canadian Government introduced several important new Regulations to facilitate and encourage international students to continue their education in Canada. The first will allow international students at post-secondary educational institutions to work off campus while completing their studies so that they can experience the Canadian labour market and gain a wider understanding of Canadian society. The second will allow students to work for two years rather than one year after their graduation. Another change is that post-secondary international students can now transfer between programs of study and institutions without applying for a change to the conditions of their study permit.

These new initiatives will have the result to better attract, integrate and retain international students in regions throughout the country. This will help make Canada a destination of choice for international students.

International students who choose to stay in Canada after they graduate greatly contribute to the Canadian labour market. Furthermore, after one year of full time work experience in Canada they can apply for permanent residence to Canada since they will have obtained the required minimum points to qualify. This is a major advantage for foreign students who wish to permanently settle in Canada. I will assist international students in the following manner:-

a) To provide a free assessment of their qualifications to obtain a study permit.

b) To formally obtain acceptance and enrolment at a Canadian college, university or other post-secondary educational institution in their chosen field and level of study. I will also consider those educational institutions, which offer a study-work program towards a diploma or degree and assist students in obtaining temporary employment in companies off campus during the course of their program of study.

c) After obtaining a formal letter of acceptance from one or more Canadian educational institutions, I will proceed to prepare and complete an application for a study permit to be filed at the Canadian Embassy in the student's country of residence.

d) To provide a description of living conditions in various parts of Canada including climate, cost of living, housing, geography etc. I will also advise on the process of making an application for permanent residence to Canada after graduation and work experience in Canada.
